Appointments

There are several ways of making an appointment with a doctor.

• Ask at Reception to book a consultation. These can be booked, often, up to two months ahead and can be with the doctor of your choice.
• Book a telephone consultation. Some problems can be dealt with over the telephone and this saves having to come to the medical centre. Reception staff will take a telephone number for the doctor to contact you at a specific time. This does not need to be your home telephone number but can be a mobile or even your work number.
• Walk in to the Open Surgery (see non-appointments below). This runs from 08.30 until 10.15am every weekday. You will be seen by one of the doctors. However, if you wish to see a particular doctor, you are requested to make an appointment.

 

Open Surgery

Our patients can see a Doctor within 24 hours (week-days).

Monday to Friday Open surgery is from 8.30am – 10.15am. No appointment is necessary. It is therefore always possible to see a doctor in the morning surgery.

Patients who wish to see a particular doctor, or who need to be seen less urgently, should make an appointment. To keep waiting times to a minimum at Open Surgery, patients who need to be seen urgently will be seen in turn without an appointment by the Duty Doctor(s).

Home Visits

Doctors carry out home visits only for patients too ill or frail to attend the surgery. If you require a home visit by a Doctor, telephone the receptionist before 10.00am. You may be asked for certain information so that the Doctor can assess the urgency of the visit. Should the occasion arise when a Home visit is requested it is the GP who will make the final decision as to whether a home visit is appropriate.

Emergencies will of course be dealt with at any time.
